About the Artist
Katrina Marie is an Upstate New York-based visual artist and illustrator whose work explores color, pattern, nature, symbolism, and storytelling through painting, drawing, and mixed media.
She describes her visual language as folk-baroque, bringing the intuitive, handmade character of folk traditions together with a love of ornament, abundance, expressive detail, and decorative form.
Influenced by folk symbolism, mythic storytelling, illuminated manuscripts, Baroque ornament, and Symbolist traditions, Katrina creates richly patterned visual worlds populated by botanicals, animals, figures, and recurring symbolic forms. Her work embraces bold color, visual rhythm, and the imperfect beauty of the handmade mark, often exploring the echoes between our interior lives and the patterns found throughout the natural world.

Studio Artixano brings together Katrina's painting, decorative art, and illustration practice, informed by more than 15 years of professional experience creating artwork for interiors, products, publishing, licensing, and private clients.
Her work moves across three closely connected areas:
Paintings
Original paintings and works on paper ranging from richly layered botanical, animal, and figurative compositions to more expressive and intuitive work. Pattern, color, ornament, and natural forms are recurring elements throughout the studio practice.
Decorative Art
Design-led artwork combining ornament, pattern, botanical forms, animals, symbolism, and hand-drawn detail. These works lend themselves naturally to interiors, wall art, textiles, tabletop, home furnishings, and other art-led applications.
Illustration
Whimsical characters, imagined environments, and narrative imagery inspired by nature, folklore, and storytelling. Katrina's illustration work includes publishing, book covers, character development, decorative illustration, and selected brand and product collaborations.
Together, these bodies of work share a common visual language while allowing the studio to move fluidly between original fine art, interiors, illustration, and commercial applications.

Studio Artixano welcomes opportunities to develop original artwork and coordinated collections for residential, hospitality, and commercial interiors.
Katrina's background in both studio art and commercial collection development allows her to approach commissioned projects at multiple scales, from individual statement works to groups of coordinating artwork developed around a particular space, palette, atmosphere, or creative direction.
Projects may include original paintings, works on paper, commissioned decorative artwork, coordinated wall-art collections, and artwork developed for reproduction or placement across multiple spaces.

Professional Experience & Capabilities
Alongside her studio practice, Katrina has more than 15 years of experience across commercial art, illustration, art licensing, collection development, and creative entrepreneurship. She also founded and managed a multi-brand art and e-commerce business encompassing five consumer-facing storefronts.
This experience gives her an understanding of both sides of the creative process: developing artwork with a distinctive artistic identity and adapting that work thoughtfully for a client, collection, product, or environment.
